Shabby Chic

Shabby chic (/ˈʃæb.iˈʃiːk/) is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or were new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, opulent, yet cottage-style decor, often with an affected feel is emphasized to differentiate it from genuine period decor.

Here at Ladybug Acres we love Shabby Chic and often find items at farm and estate sales that are heavily painted through the years, with many layers showing through with obviously time-worn areas.

We love to create items from old feed sacks, cottons and linens that are worn, stained or bleached out.  Old doilies, quilts and embroidered linens that can be salvaged are reworked into artful treasures for you and your home.

Dave loves working with reclaimed barn wood to make storage pieces and furniture. His apothecary drawers are perfect for sewing notions, beading supplies, or plain old odds and ends.   His signature piece is the sofa table.  He loves working in cherry and walnut and bringing a simple sophistication to your home.

So look in this category for the beautifully romantic items:  with roses and quilts and lace and painted furniture.  We love using used, worn, or inexpensive components and adding a touch of white, pastel or little bright accents to make stylish goods.
